Team
Dedication. Expertise. Passion.
At Alagarifuna, our team is more than a group of individuals—we are a family rooted in Garifuna culture, history, and pride. Each of us brings unique talents, perspectives, and experiences, but we are united by one mission: to celebrate, preserve, and share the richness of the Garifuna people with the world.
Our Volunteer Team.
The heart of ALA Garifuna Women beats through our dedicated volunteers. From food distribution to community events, our volunteers give their time, skills, and compassion to uplift families and strengthen our community. Their teamwork and generosity ensure that our mission of care, culture, and empowerment continues to grow. Together, they are the driving force behind the impact we create every day.
Services
We offer workshops, resources, and events providing guidance and support across various fronts including health, education, workers' rights, and cultural preservation.
See What Our Community Have to Say
"ALA Garifuna has been a true pillar in preserving our culture and empowering the next generation. Through their educational programs, my children have learned to speak our language and embrace their heritage with pride. It’s more than a non-profit—it’s a movement that’s keeping the Garifuna spirit alive.”
-Maria T., Community Member & Parent
“Being part of ALA Garifuna has changed my life. I joined as a volunteer and ended up finding a family. Their mentorship programs and cultural workshops have brought healing, growth, and a sense of identity not just for me, but for so many youth in our community.”
-Kevin L., Volunteer Mentor
“What ALA Garifuna is doing for our people is extraordinary. From cultural preservation to youth development, their work is vital. I’ve seen firsthand how they uplift our community through education, advocacy, and celebration of who we are. Proud to support and stand with them.”
Dr. Angela R., Educator & Cultural Advocate
